Spring 2023
Hey all! I'm back! I know it’s been a while since I last posted to the blog, and I only have one excuse for why that is: Tears of the Kingdom. I’ve been on a hefty video game fix since that came out earlier this year, so a lot of of my hobbies took a back seat to gaming. However, that doesn't mean that I put photography on the back burner. I still got out plenty during the last few months to add more to my portfolio. Rather than bombard you with 3 month’s worth of photos and stories all in one post, I’ll just get to the point and cover my favorite shots from the season.
A Day Trip to Lake Erie
I made a point to get to a new place in the Mitten state that I haven’t been to before: Lake Erie. With some nice beach landscapes and wildlife sightings, this adventure made for a great day of photography.
Backyard Photography
I also made the most of the the subjects in my backyard. Our neighborhood deer herd, pretty skies, and a spectacular lightning show, it was a good season with good subjects just out my door.

A Day In Kalamazoo
To close out April, I set another day aside for photography and decided to check out some nature parks in the Kalamazoo area.
Tulip Time
Of course I made the most of the busiest tourist season of my hometown. I participated in the Tulip Time market for the first time ever with great success. I sold a lot of work, and still have plenty of tulip prints leftover as starting stock for next year’s show. And as always, I added plenty of tulips to the portfolio.
Mackinac Island
In June, I made plans to go photograph Mackinac Island. I’ve been there before, but only as a child and not as a photographer. I made an adventurous 4 day weekend out of this mission to the island, photographing locations throughout the lower peninsula on the drive up, a little bit in the upper peninsula, the tip of the mitten, and even more on the drive home. Rather than cram it into this post or shorten the adventure down to a paragraph, the Mackinac Island trip gets its own blog post that you can find here.
