April 2022 Photography

Spring is in the air at last!  After the extra busy month of March I imposed on myself to get as much Winter into my year as I possibly could, I decided to talk it a little slower this month in April.  This month I simply stuck with shooting around home vs. extended weekend excursions.  After last month’s Winter adventures and then going to Alaska in May, I figured it’d be good to slow down a little bit.

Here are the photography highlights of April 2022!

Spring is coming back!

While I did go on hike 14 for my challenge, I didn’t actually take any pictures that that.  The scenes didn’t hit me that day.  However, I did do some backyard photography throughout the month as birds and critters started to make a reappearance after a long winter.  Hopefully I can eventually get some shots of a few more species before too long.

#hike15 at New Richmond Bridge

The next weekend was a little busier with another art show in the books, so I did another quick hike at New Richmond Bridge.  I’ve photographed here before, and since Spring hadn’t truly sprung yet, I decided to focus on creating Black & White images this week. I also got a great sunset shot in during the week as well.

#hike16 at Hemlock Crossings

After two weeks of shorter hikes, I wanted to get at least 2 miles in this week.  The weather was a little chilly that day, so I clocked in exactly 2 miles at Hemlock Crossings.  This was another repeat visit, but typically when I go here I photograph along the river looking for birds.  I guess it was too cold out that day for the birds, so I actually hiked through the woods this time.  The greens were really only present in the grass and pine trees so far, so I didn’t do too much with landscapes this day, but instead got the new macro lens out and focused on the close up subjects for something different.

#hike17 in Saugatuck

Finally! We had a weekend where the temperature got into the 70’s, do that calls for a beach and dunes day!  After spending the first half of the day with my niece and nephew, I drove out to Saugatuck dunes for a good 5 mile hike.  The greens haven’t been popping yet, so I figured a good hike to the beach and back would make for some good photography.  I took the south trail out to the dunes this time for some different sights from the typical north trail I take.  The beach didn’t excite me to much, but I managed to find some good stuff along the way in the dunes and in the forest with my macro lens.
