February 2022 Photography

We had a great month for Winter Photography.  While near the end of the month it warmed up an all the snow melted, I managed to get a great set of winter landscapes taken before that happened.

Here are the photography highlights for February!

#hike5 at Pierce Cedar Creek Institute

I went for a drive to get a little further away from home for my mosaic project.  This brought me to the Pierce Cedar Creek Institute in Barry County.  While the weather didn’t make for some awe inspiring landscapes and all the wildlife I witness got away from me before I could get some shots, it was still a good hike with a few scenes and subjects worthy of my portfolio.

Winter Sunsets and a Shot a Year in the Making

We had a night where we got a gorgeous sunset just in time for when I typically get home from work, so that was a nice addition to this month’s photography.  The weekend after that, we went on an outing that was a long time coming.  I planned to do this shot last year, but in the last weekend of the year where the conditions where to my specifications, I instead went out and bought a car (you know, like you do).  After that the snow just melted and we had a short winter.

Down in St. Joseph county there is the Langley Covered Bridge, and for the mosaic project (and my portfolio in general) I envisioned a specific shot of the bridge in winter, the red bridge surrounded by white snow, with a clear blue sky behind it.  The conditions were perfect this weekend, so I went out and captured the shot in envisioned, as well as a few other shots of the bridge, as well as some other winter shots before and after getting to the bridge that day.

#hike6 & #hike7 in the Local Area

For my next 2 hikes, the mood wasn’t quite hitting me on those days to go out, but wanting to stick to the hiking challenge, I went out to some local trails close to home to get those hikes in.  They were not to exciting for shooting and the conditions weren’t the greatest for winter landscapes, but I still managed to get a few shots that I liked.
